I added a link to the poem by Chrystos because this has such a long history in feminist discussion.

[[White women's tears]] is a sarcastic / humorous reference to the tendency of race and gender discussions to be derailed by white women into the pain the discussion is causing non-POC. It parodies the overwrought concern of "(missing) [[white woman syndrome]]" or WWS<ref>See: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_white_woman_syndrome Missing white woman syndrome], in which the media focus disproportionately on missing white women over missing women of colour or other missing people.</ref>.
