&lt;div&gt;In [[SF]] [[fandom]], &#039;&#039;&#039;mundanes&#039;&#039;&#039; are &amp;quot;other&amp;quot;; people outside the fandom.  It usually refers to [http://www.essayontime.com essay] outside of fandom generally, but people within specific sub-fandoms can use the term to refer to non-members of that particular sub-fandom.  The term is somewhat pejorative.  At a con hotel, for instance, people may may speak derisively of &amp;quot;the look of fright on the mundanes&#039; faces&amp;quot; at the con-goers&#039; garb or behavior. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The term has been applied in several communities with significant overlap with fandom. (need examples)&lt;br /&gt;
