== TV Ace ==

Ace is a white [[human]] teenager from Perivale (a suburb of London, England) in the 1980s, who was swept up in a time storm while experimenting with chemistry in her bedroom, and stranded on [[Dragonfire|Iceworld]] in the far future, where she met the Doctor.

She is a self-made expert in explosives, who makes her own "Nitro-9" canisters and uses them.

Her first name -- which she never uses -- is Dorothy, an allusion to [[Dorothy Gale]], whose character her story echoes.

Ace hates [[racists]] and [[facists]] and enthusiastically goes along with the Doctor's habit of empire-toppling and monster-fighting, while he regards her as a protégée. She calls him "Professor" (much to his annoyance).

She's a rarity among ''Doctor Who'' companions because ''she doesn't scream''.

She received a fair amount of [[character development]] and [[backstory]], notably in "The Curse of Fenric", "Ghost Light" and "Survival".
