As such, this entry focuses on Henry Fitzroy as a fictional character, rather than as the historical figure on which he was based.

In both the books and the TV series, Henry Fitzroy was turned into a [[vampire]] by his lover, Christina, who dug him out of his tomb after he appeared to die. He went on to live for centuries, ageing at a much slower rate than [[human]]s, and possessing many of the typical qualities attributed to [[vampire]]s, except, most notably, for their aversion to crosses. He has remained, instead, a devout Catholic.

At the end of the 20th Century, Henry lived Toronto, Canada, where he met [[Vicki Nelson]] and [[Tony Foster]], who both became his lovers.

In the books, he earns a living as a romance writer. In the TV series, he is a graphic novelist.

Since the character of Tony Foster does not appear in the television series, Henry's bisexuality has not, so far, been represented on the screen.
