Sarah has just moved to L.A. when she meets Nancy, Bonnie and Rochelle at her new school. They are three witches looking for a "fourth" to complete their circle, and, after Bonnie notices Sarah using [[telekinesis]] on a pencil in class, they ask her to join them.<br />

The four begin using more and more magic, including for personal gain and revenge. Rochelle makes the hair of racist girls fall out, Bonnie's disfiguring scars heal, and Nancy's abusive stepfather dies, leaving her and her mother with enough money to move out of their trailer. Sarah tries to use a love spell on a boy, who later tries to rape her, and Nancy takes revenge on him and kills him.<br />

Concerned by their abuses of power, Sarah tries to stop the others, who turn on her, led by Nancy. Because Sarah is a "natural witch" with innate powers, she is able to defeat them and bind their powers. Nancy ends up raving tied to a bed in a psychiatric hospital, and Sarah, who still has powers of her own, warns the others that they might end up like Nancy.<br />
