Wiley Xena manages to weave her fishing obsession into getting back the diamond: First she creates an avalanche to force the barbarian gem robbers to walk around the lake so she can get in some fishing; then she tricks Gabrielle into trying to get the gem back, so that she can continue fishing. Hearing a fight ensue, she says to herself: "You go, Gabrielle! ... You're beautiful when you're angry."  She then tricks Joxer into rescuing Gabrielle. Having successfully brought the fight to her, she continues to fish while she fights.

List of Xena episodes

Humorous episode: Aphrodite is up to her old tricks, and casts a spell of obsession on Gabrielle (self-obsession); Xena (fish); and Joxer (apes), to delay them from saving the North Star.

Notes (and spoilers)

Xena goes fishing again (see also The Quill Is Mightier and A Day in the Life), inspiring many more fish jokes (such as Gabrielle's immortal line, "She wants me to fist a fish?")

Xena also has to rescue Gabrielle, who re-enacts Narcissus' drowning in his own reflection. After dragging her out of the water, holding her hand on Gabrielle's breast for a few unnecessary seconds, and leaning in to administer mouth-to-mouth ... Xena is splattered by Gabrielle's spluttering spray of water.

G: Not the lips! ... Please. They chap so easily.
X: Wha-- Just what were you doing out there?
G: Uh ... I was ... oh! I was trying to kiss my reflection in the water. I couldn't resist it. I leaned over, and I tried to press my lips --
X: And you fell in. (shaking her head with disgust) Any fish down there? (with renewed enthusiasm)
G: It was like ... my reflection embraced me. ... I sank into it. I was surrounded by it. ... And you -- you pulled me up, and ... I looked into your eyes, and I finally realized: there can only be one person for me in my life. (Romantic music swelling)
X: (looking anticipatory and sentimental) Well--
G: Me! (Xena's face falls in confusion and and disgruntlement)

Later, when Xena's fish-catching kite crashes, and she needs Gabrielle to help get it going again:

X: Gabrielle?! Monkey-man, you bring her back! ... You know, you two are beginning to annoy me with these obsessions of yours! Fish don't just catch themselves!
