Lambda Literary Awards are presented in twenty-four categories, with a category for Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror. The Awards are administered by the Lambda Literary Foundation, the country’s leading organization for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered (LGBT) literature.

The Lambda Literary Awards are based principally on the quality of the writing and the LGBT content of the work. The sexual orientation of the author is secondary.

Nominations are accepted between September 1 and December 1 each year.
