Redundant categorization is an approach to categorization. In it, works and subcategories are redundantly categorized in large categories as appropriate, and in smaller subcategories as appropriate.
It is distinguished from diffusion, in which works and subcategories are diffused down into smaller subcategories as appropriate, and not also categorized in the larger category.
It is more closely related to using categories as "tags", in which every article or category on a particular topic is given a particular keyword.
