Johanna Sinisalo is the leading science fiction writer in Finland, where her short stories have won numerous awards. Her 2000 novel, Ennen päivänlaskua ei voi won the Finlandia prize for literature. It was translated into English first as Not Before Sundown and later as Troll: A Love Story. It won the Tiptree Award in 2004.
Very little of Sinisalo's other work has been translated into English.
