Dorothy L. Sayers (June 13, 1893 - Dec. 17, 1957) was a scholar, translator, essayist, and writer, best known for her Lord Peter Wimsey detective stories, which also feature a well-known female character, Harriet Vane. She did write a small number of SF works, and considered her translations of Dante to be her best work. Two essays were published as, Are Women Human?.
