Gabriela Mistral was a pseudonym for Nobel Prize-winning (1945) poet and feminist, Lucila de María del Perpetuo Socorro Godoy Alcayaga. She was active in Chiléan politics, in its education system, and internationally. She promoted the early works of Pablo Neruda.
