Pat Califia (http://www.patcalifia.com/) is a writer (erotica and SF), sex activist, and therapist.

Califia began writing professionally as a lesbian activist who wrote S&M erotica. At the time, many lesbians and feminists considered S&M inappropriate to the lesbian and feminist culture. Califia was a contributor to Coming to Power: Writing and graphics on Lesbian S/M and the coeditor of The Second Coming: Leatherdyke Reader, both of which argued the contrary. Her short-story lesbian S&M collection, Macho Sluts, remains popular.
