L’ennemi principal: 1. Économie politique du patriarcat (1998): first volume of a series by Christine Delphy, here collecting feminist essays originally written between 1970 and 1978.

The texts in this volume significantly overlap with the those translated into English by Diana Leonard and collected in Close to Home: A Materialist Analysis of Women's Oppression (1984), but here the texts appear in their original French version. "La transmission héréditaire" and "Capitalisme, patriarcat et lutte de femmes" are absent from Close to Home, which contains another two texts, "Patriarchy, feminism and their intellectuals" and "A materialist feminism is possible", that L'ennemi principal: 1 does not reprint. Delphy also revised and expanded her introduction in 1997.
