"I am a faculty member in Soc/Anth at Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B. Canada, EOA 3CO. I teach gender, media, theory etc. No suprisingly for a sociologist, I prefer to examine the logical consitency of alternate societies as presented in science fiction so that their gender relations match the other social insitutions of the society. I love it when the author presents an authentic alternate vision that really seems consistent like Joan Slonczewski's A Door into Ocean, and I hate it when authors set up a society as supposedly egalitarian but then keep reproducing stereotypical patriarchal gender roles; Star Trek is all too guilt of this." 1995
