The Triple Goddess gives Xena the opportunity to re-live her life in the village, as it would have been had she not become the Warrior Princess.
In this alternate world, Xena's brother Lyceus is alive, but many other things are not as good. Various warlords from the last several episodes (Mezentius, from The Path Not Taken; Krykus, from Hooves and Harlots; and other warlords are banding together to take over much of Greece. The Amazons are slaves, the centaurs have been wiped out, Xena's village lives in fear, Xena's mother is dead, Xena is engaged to be married, and Gabrielle is a bitter and cynical slave without hope.
- A rare moment of Xena demonstrating religious faith, praying to the Triple Goddess for her brother Lyceus.
Dialog
Xena: By this flame I call on the three fates — the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone. Comfort my brother Lyceus whose life you cut short this day eleven years ago. In his memory I ask it.
