Homophobia is the common term for prejudice against same-sex sexuality and/or LGBT-identified people.
Right-wingers hate the term because, they argue, "x-phobia" implies a medical or mental health condition. Their obsession with etymological purity betrays a somewhat unhealthy obsession with the whole issue. See Wikipedia talk page for this response in action.
