On the Gorilla Trail (1922) is an account by Mary Hastings Bradley of one of her travels through Africa, in the company of her family (including her six-year-old daughter), during an expedition led by Carl Akeley.
The short story "What I Didn't See" by Karen Joy Fowler was partly inspired by this book.
