Le Livre de la cité des dames (1405) (famously transl. in Eng. as The Book of the City of Ladies) is an allegorical utopian society by Christine de Pizan. The work depicting a city filled with women of noble spirit, often drawn from the lives of the saints. It is also a defense of the virtues of women, and an early work arguing that women should be educated.
