• To make a bulleted list, preface each item with an asterisk, e.g.,

* Item 1

• To make a redirect, edited the new page; the new page text should look like:

#REDIRECT [[Name of Page]]

• To indent a text in a page, preface the text with a colon like:

: This is my fabulous text.

• To make a new page, either make a link to it on the old page and click it; or type the URL in the form of:

http://wiki.feministsf.net/index.php?title=YourPageTitle&action=edit

• To link to a page, type the phrase you want to highlight in square brackets, like this:

The [[lesbian separatist]] movement generated a lot of creative thinking...

"lesbian separatist" will be a link; clicking on it will take you to the page named "Lesbian separatist"

• To link to a page, but have the link go to one page, and the text say something different, use the double square brackets, but include a pipe symbol | between the title of the link on the left, and the linked text on the right; for example:

The [[lesbian separatist|movement to live among and support women]] generated a lot...

This would result in a link on the words "movement to live among and support women", that goes to the page "Lesbian separatist".

• To link to an image, first Upload file (in the toolbox on the left); then reference it in the form:

[[Image:Filename.gif]]

• To type instructions like these without making them actionable, enclose the instructions with "nowiki" in brackets, e.g.,

<nowiki>sample text</nowiki>

• BOILERPLATE TEXT - there are some standard messages that can inserted in pages using a tag that will automatically insert some text. For example, spoiler warnings, current events and general editing notices and requests. Type the text in the correct spot, and when you save your edits, the boilerplate text will be automatically inserted with the correct formatting.

Typing {{Spoiler}} will insert a standard spoiler warning.

Typing {{endspoiler}} will indicate that the spoiler section has ended.

Typing {{Current}} will place a notice that the page is documenting a current event.

Typing {{Cleanup}} will place a notice that asks for someone to clean up the article to make it higher quality.

Typing {{FillerNeeded}} will place a notice that asks for other people to fill in text in an event transcript.

• to create a link to a category page, without actually adding the current page to the category, type:

[[:category:CategoryName]]
