* First appearance of crossroads demons, who make a trade with someone for their souls.  Based on the Robert Johnson legend.
* Dean sets up a crossroads demon, who tempts him by offering to release his dad.  He appears truly tempted -- then traps her and gets her to release the victim they're helping in this episode.  She taunts Dean by telling him that his dad is in hell.  At the end of the episode Sam asks Dean if he was really tempted.  Dean refuses to say anything and turns on the radio.
