Xena has to pretend to be her old bad self again in order to save a kidnapped princess from a local arms dealer trying to start a war. (Shades of "The Princess Bride": kidnap someone and make it look like the neighbor did it, to start a war.) While doing so, she runs into her old flame Marcus--she tries to get him to repent, but he won't; although at the last minute, he sacrifices himself to save Xena's life.
