"Science Fiction and Fantasy Female Writers is a recently formed association of professional women writers of science fiction and fantasy, as well as authors from other genres who are interested in science fiction and fantasy." [1]

SFFFW sponsors the "Roots in Writing Award". The 2006 winner is Jane Yolen; 2005 winners were Betty Ballantine, Madeleine L'Engle, Ursula K. Le Guin, Anne McCaffrey, Andre Norton, Joanna Russ, and Kate Wilhelm.
