In this episode Xena risks losing her vision permanently to save Gabrielle from a forced marriage and murder. Notable for inclusion of the swishy Vidalis, who is apparently a hairdresser / finishing school kinda guy charged with fixing Gabrielle up in a [[Galatea|Eliza Doolittle]]-kinda way.  When asked if he had ever been in love, he says coyly, "Well, there was a certain someone." Gabrielle responds gender-neutrally, "Now, when you think of that person, can you imagine being with anyone else?" ... At the end of the episode when the butch Palaemon strides off with his muscles & leather, Gabrielle observes, "You know, he's kind of attractive when he's not kidnapping me," and Vidalis, also watching Palaemon stride off, says, "I agree," adding speculatively, "You know, he and I dealt with those guards quite handily. I think I might follow him and see if he needs a ... sidekick." Gabrielle smiles: "You know, it's pretty good work if you can get it."
