When Xena sets up a plan to save a Gaul leader (Vercinix) from Caesar, Gabrielle is faced with a choice of conscience.

When Caesar and Crassus set out to "divide and conquer", Gabrielle is not so easily led into mistrusting Xena. Although she expresses some mistrust, as Gabrielle is going up against Caesar again, Xena tells her to trust her, and ultimately Gabrielle does. Even when Crassus works his wiles, Gabrielle tries to amend Xena's plan without harming it.
