Barbara enters the Tardis in "An Unearthly Child"

Barbara Wright is a fictional character from the series Doctor Who, and one of the Doctor's original human companions. She was played by Jacqueline Hill.

Barbara Wright was Susan Foreman's history teacher at Coal Hill School.

She was the first human in the series to set foot in the Tardis, and also to step out of it, both in a different time and on a different world. She was the first character in the series to encounter a Dalek as well. She is a strong-willed, courageous and intelligent woman, both pragmatic and resourceful, and known to have successfully impersonated a goddess.

She is generally made of awesome.

She was close to Ian Chesterton, the science teacher from the same school with whom she shared the adventure of travelling across time and space in the first two seasons of the series.
