Privilege refers to what people in a class that is privileged, relative to some other class, have. In addition to whatever the specifics of the privilege are, it includes not having to notice their privilege.

The theory of privilege was first advanced by Peggy McIntosh in "White Privilege: Unpacking The Invisible Knapsack", first published in Independent School, Winter 1990.
