Storm (personal name Ororo Munroe) is a mutant member of The X-Men. Her mutant ability is the power to control the weather, particularly the wind. Incredibly powerful, at some points she runs the team. She was the first African superheroine in mainstream comics.

Important appearances

  • First appearance - the major revision of The X-Men, in Giant-Size X-Men #1, May 1975, conceived by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum.
  • Backstory established - Uncanny X-Men #102 (December 1976), written by Chris Claremont
  • Storm became leader of the X-Men - Uncanny X-Men #139 (Nov. 1980), written by Chris Claremont
  • Storm defeats Callisto
  • Mohawk & new costume - Uncanny X-Men #173 (Oct. 1983), written by Chris Claremont & drawn by Paul Smith
  • Storm is depowered by Forge; they form a relationship that ends when she realizes he was behind the weapon that depowered her - Uncanny X-Men #185-186 (1984)
  • Storm regains her powers - X-Men #225-227 (Jan-March 1988)
