An Earth man "buy"s a Martian young woman (Lellie) from her family to accompany him on his five-year job in a small uninhabited moon of Jupiter. His company's agent urges him to marry her for anti-slavery laws to give her a passport. Martian people are a race of human with a dead civilization. Their eyes are big and speak a little, so they look surprised and dumb.
