William Sleator (Feb. 13, 1945 - Aug. 2, 2011) was an American SF writer for YA and children. A gay man, he included gender themes in some of his writings. House of Stairs is probably his best-known book, about children trapped in a strange house, who are unwilling participants in a Skinner-style behavioral experiment.
