- For the character, see Harry Potter (character).
Wildly popular series of fantasy novels by J.K. Rowling.
The Harry Potter books have become a publishing phenomenon, selling hundreds of millions of copies world-wide, and spurring various adaptations and tie-in franchises.
They are primarily aimed at children, albeit not to the exclusion of adults, but each successive volume follows the main character's maturation over one year, and the series takes on a progressively darker tone.
Six volumes have been released so far. The seventh, and final volume, which J.K. Rowling recently finished writing, will be published in July 2007.
