Hélène Cixous is a French writer and literary critic; she has been described as both feminist and anti-feminist, and has been particularly described as a member of the "French feminist" school of philosophy and literary criticism. She is best known for Le rire de la Méduse (1975) (eng., The Laugh of the Medusa).
