Xena is struck by a poisoned dart, and Gabrielle is forced to impersonate her to save a village. Xena appears to die from the dart, and Gabrielle is devastated, but prepares to take her friend back to her home to bury the body. As she and Argo leave with Xena's body, the warlord tries to destroy Xena's body by tying it to Argo and another horse. Although beaten, Argo will not move. As they continue to beat Argo, Xena rises--she has fought off the toxin, which caused her to pass into a near-death state.
