Xena and Gabrielle encounter the Amazons.
Gabrielle tries to save her new friend Terreis from an attack, but she's too late; instead, Terreis gives Gabrielle her Right of Caste--admission into the Amazons. But it turns out Terreis is actually an Amazon princess, so Gabrielle is now the heir apparent.
The attack was all part of an elaborate ruse by a local arms dealer warlord who wants war between the Amazons and the Centaurs. The Amazons, enraged by the murder of Terreis, are set to execute Phantes, the son of the Centaur leader, because they believe him to be the murderer. Gabrielle and Xena, with their new Amazon friend Ephiny, foil the evil plot, and all is well between the Amazons and the Centaurs.
- First appearance in Xena of the Amazons. See their earlier appearance on "Hercules and the Amazon Women".
- Gabrielle, now an Amazon princess, receives training on the staff, her weapon of choice throughout the series.
