Raphael Carter is a writer. Raphael, who is intersexuality and does not have a preferred reference pronoun, won the James Tiptree, Jr. Award for "Congenital Agenesis of Gender Ideation," published in Starlight 2, edited by Patrick Nielsen Hayden, Tor Books, 1988. Raphael lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the same household as writer Pamela Dean.
