Elsie Balter (1910-1996) was, along with [[Judith Merril]], [[Doris Baumgardt]] (aka Leslie Perri), [[Mary Byers]], and [[Rosalind Cohen]], a member of the early fandom group called the [[Futurians]]. In the late 1920s and early 1930s she was going to college and working as a bookkeeper, stenographer, and typist. She worked for Rosalined Cohen in a law office, and through Rosalind became involved with the nucleus of people who became the Futurians. She married Donald A. Wollheim. Co-founder of DAW Books.
