Works include all manner of creative and functional products from humans (or, umm, aliens, should they appear).

Books should include at least two categories: One for year of publication (e.g., Category:2006 publications) and one for type of work (e.g., Category:Novels, Category:Short stories, Category:Operas, Category:Films). Fictional books should also include a genre category (e.g., Category:Works of science fiction, Category:Historical fantasy works, etc.)
