Editor of The Gentlewomen of Evil, a 1967 anthology of Victorian supernatural stories by women writers.
According to his biographical blurb on The Gentlewomen of Evil, Haining "is editor of one of Britain's largest paperback houses -- and at twenty-six one of the youngest men to hold such a position. Recently married -- his wife is also in publishing 'in the more respectable end of the business, hardbacks,' he says -- Peter entered the book world after a number of years in journalism."
It notes that his hobbies include "collecting macabre stories and languishing in hot baths. Among his ambitions is a desire to write a definitive biography of Edgar Allan Poe and own a vintage steam traction engine."
