Opera adaptation of Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale (novel).
North American premiere produced by Poul Ruder, Minnesota Opera, 2003; Gabor Andrasy as the Commander; Elizabeth Bishop as Offred; Joyce Castle as Serena Joy.
Looks like an amazing set design (see photo by Michael Daniel) but can't find out who did the set design. Also look at Daniel's "proof sheet" for photos 8666, the backdrop in 8830, and 0185.
