Valdemar series
The Valdemar series is a series of fantasy novels by Mercedes Lackey on the world of Velgarth. Most have some relation to the kingdom of Valdemar, featuring stories of the Heralds of Valdemar — a type of magically- or psychically-gifted knights of the realm.
The series features numerous supernatural abilities, divine intervention, and sentient non-human species, and spans a long period of time from the "Mage Wars" to centuries (millennia) later.
As with many long series, the series is broken up into smaller sub-series, trilogies, and duologies.
The series is notable for its inclusion of numerous strong female characters and positive depictions of same-sex sexuality.
