- Sam has a vision that takes them to a small town, where everyone is going crazy; apparently they are infected with a demonic virus, "croatoan" (related to the myth of the Roanoke "lost colony"). One of the infected manages to expose Sam to the virus; Dean sends the other three refugees out of the town, but elects to stay with Sam, telling Sam that he is tired of the job. But it turns out that the virus has just disappeared from everyone's blood. At the end one of the three supposedly clean people turns out to be demonic; he slits another's throat to make a "call" (a la Meg from season 1) and tells him that "the test" went well and that Sam is definitely immune as expected.
