Triple Goddess

The Triple Goddess is the name for the triple manifestation of the Goddess, or three goddesses, in Indo-European mythology.

The phrase and concept were popularized by Robert Graves in The White Goddess and other scholars, Jane Ellen Harrison, A.B. Cook, George Thomson, James Frazer, Robert Briffault, Jack Lindsay, and Marija Gimbutas.

The triple manifestation may represent several features. One that has proven popular in modern fantasy is a representation of the three phases of womanhood, or the three phases of life — Maiden, Mother, and Crone.
