After a wreck at sea, Gabrielle ends up on a cursed ship; The Pirates of the Caribbean's Black Pearl had a similar curse.
Summary, dialog, spoilers
Cecrops to Gabrielle, as she is seasick on board the ship: "I’ve-- decided to make you the new cook. I see you’ve had some experience with food.”
Later, after telling Gabrielle his story, Gabrielle tries to persuade him that Athena did him a favor -- by giving him eternal life, she gave him enough time to overcome Poseidon's curse, that he couldn't come ashore until he was redeemed by love. Cecrops reacts with cynicism:
- Oh, please. Who’s going to love me? I mean, I’m hardly the catch of the day: Tall, dark, and — cursed for eternity. Yeah, quite a draw. With the exception of you, there hasn’t been a woman onboard this ship for 200 years. And she had an attitude because I sank her ship.
Later, talking with Xena about his lost love Terai, Xena says that the answer must be at his old village and with Terai:
- X: You just have to have faith.
- C: Faith?! Faith has killed more people than war!
Xena-Gabrielle relationship
After Xena does some pretty incredible acrobatics to get on board the ship she and Gabrielle have a very tender moment.
