Novella by Joanna Russ, first published in the Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Jan 1982 issue. Won the Hugo Award for Best Novella in 1983.

Reprinted in several anthologies, and collected in Extra(Ordinary) People along with other stories by Russ.
