Henry James

Henry James was a 19th/early 20th century American writer. While most of his works are classed as "realism", his angst-y and psychological works contributed to the genre of psychological horror (see, e.g., "The Turn of the Screw" (1898)) and sometimes strayed into the ghost story and morality fable genres popular in that Victorian era. See, e.g., "The Altar of the Dead" (1895) and "The Jolly Corner" (1908).
