Sexism in SF
Sexism in SF makes itself manifest in numerous ways:
- a dearth of representations of female characters
- gendered representations of characters in occupations
- gendered representations of characters in relation to their sex roles
- shallow or stereotyped representations of female characters
- unequal recognition of female creators
- unequal access to opportunities for female creators
- incidents of sexual violence
- sexist language
- unequal access of fans, for instance, inadequate attention to nursing rooms, childcare, etc.
