- The White Plague (1982) - A male scientist unleashes a plague that kills only women, dooming the human race.
- Dune (1965) - Dune and sequels portrayed a relatively patriarchal government, with a powerful matriarchal cult (the Bene Gesserit dedicated to breeding the Uber-boy.
