Frankenstein : Mary Shelley :: Harry Potter : J.K. Rowling? Iconic male characters eclipsing their female creators? Although at least Rowling is alive to make money from the sales of her books, and get royalties for all the movie adaptations and merchandising that profit off her ideas.
