1997: Associate Professor of English and Women's Studies at Middle Tennessee State University.

My primary areas of research and teaching are gender and race representations in science fiction literature, television, and film. I have written and published on Octavia Butler, Stanislaw Lem, Misha, Ursula Le Guin, Marge Piercy, Jewelle Gomez, and Star Trek and Red Dwarf. I am co-editor of _Enterprise Zones: Critical Positions on Star Trek_ (Westview Press, 1996) and am currently working on a book of critical essays (for undergraduates) of feminist approaches to science fiction and fantasy television in the 90s. (Queries regarding submissions for the book can be sent to me via email to ehelford at frank.mtsu.edu) and more about me can be found at www.mtsu.edu/~ehelford (including my vita at www.mtsu.edu/~ehelford/cv.html).
