Elia Barceló

Elia Barceló (Alicante 1957) is a Spanish SF writer, considered the most important in her country.

Besides SF, she has also published fantasy, detective stories, young adults books and essays.

Elia Barceló (Elda, Alicante, 29 de enero de 1957). She studied German and Hispanic Filology, and finally had her Ph.D. in Hispanic Filology in Innsbruck, Austria, in 1995, where she currently lives and teach Hispanic literature.

She is one of the three most important SF women writers in Spanish language, together with Argentinian Angélica Gorodischer and Cuban Daína Chaviano, with whom she comprises the so-called "feminine triad in American-Spanish SF".

• EDEBÉ Prize in the category Young Adult Literature in 1997.
• International Award for Best SF Short Novel from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, 1993.
