I'm not sure what you mean by "authenticity" here. Authenticity in common parlance means original, honest, not fake or misleading. I'm not sure what that has to do with legitimacy. Or rather, I'm not sure why you're highlighting authenticity among the many things with which legitimation is often connected. (Or do you mean authenticity as it is used in philosophy? If so I think it's confusing, and maybe should be handled as a separate paragraph and a link to explain the philosophy use, which is philosophy jargon and not ordinary usage.) --LQ 08:09, 5 May 2007 (PDT)

I consulted the dictionary definition of "legitimacy" before writing it, and it linked legitimacy and authenticity, so I wanted to put something about the connection here as well, but I was rather brain-fried by the time I saved the entry, last night, after spending over three hours just trying to come up with a way to phrase the first part about power, so I didn't manage to integrate the rest suitably. It's a work in progress! That's what Wikis are for! --Ide Cyan 19:21, 5 May 2007 (PDT)
